Small Projects

Been using small 6x6 papers to draw on, it's restricting but allows me to focus more on concept rather than just some overdone crazy shiz I'm used to dealing out. The more I worked on it, adding marker and saturating colors, the less sure I felt about it... good sign that less is more. A lot of disappointment this week, not much of a spring break, but it's better than nothing that's for sure. Other than minor set-backs, I've started to work on fabric bracelets again and loved the idea of braiding metal with fabric like these:
This and That
Yay for mindless work!

Try it again

Sometimes it feels good to do a sketch and not have any preconceived ideas of what it should look like in the end. Just grabbed wrinkly piece of cardboard from the recycling bin in the hall and randomly made strokes with a brush. I thought about finishing it, but there's something I like about a messy painting.
I don't bother trying to make up a meaning for anything drawn,
honestly it's just an image I wanted to get out and that's that.

A few weeks after, the colors and shapes inside the catfish sort of reminded me of looking into a glass bottom boat and seeing a reef with tropical fish swimming by; it has that blurry, strange sense you get. I dunno, it seemed cool that this turned out to represent something I didn't intend.

Smallish

Oooo, maybe extra money in my pocket will be a motivation toward making more clay charms. That and a craft weekend or something during Spring break! Old stuff, but for the record:

Yayyyy!
